Avalon Tours are designed by experienced solo female travelers with an eye for the unique, magical, and otherworldly

We hit the top attractions, but we can’t resist those whimsical little back alleys with secrets to tell
Tiny museums of oddities are a favorite
And we have a deep reverence for all of the world’s mystical spaces

We do not condone breakneck non-stop tourist attraction hopping
Those itineraries are extractive of both the local cultures and of ourselves
Those itineraries leave no time for reciprocity or genuine engagement

We move more slowly and with intention
We make space for rest and rejuvenation and time on our own

Smaller than industry standard “small group” trips, we call them micro groups

Micro group travel allows us into spaces that larger groups can not go, our restaurants are better, our hidden gems are truly that, and we can go into smaller spaces, little museums, small cafes, and secret gardens. And what is life, if not for all of the delightful small things

Micro group travel is ideal for those who have a hard time in large groups. For those who find busy schedules with loads of people overwhelming and depleting. Vacations should balance amazing experiences with enough time in between to truly rejuvenate

Micro group travel is perfect for introverts and independent women who bristle at small talk and inauthenticity
But love honest connections and conversation. It’s perfect for those who need some alone time to explore or sit at the corner cafe reading a good book

We are a women’s tour company catering to two groups

Experienced female solo travelers who crave the peace of mind that a woman’s group tour provides
We got you little free spirit, you go do you, and we’ll leave the light on for you AND
Newer female travelers
with the aim of cultivating independent and future solo female travelers
You’re in good hands and we will teach you everything we know

Although these two demographics appear at odds, we believe these women are perfectly compatible
Because like so many female communities, we are hardwired to learn compassionately and symbiotically from each other

From the seasoned pros, new travelers learn guts and tenacity
And from the new travelers, we are reminded of what it is to see the world with new eyes

Ages typically fall within the Millennial - Gen X range, but we have frequent flyers in their early 20s and late 80s, and everyone is equally delighted in everyone else’s company. I have a theory; This is because introverts all seem to have an ageless quality about them.

So come alone or bring your mom, gal pal, or girlfriend

Our tours are meticulously designed by experienced travelers who are also introverts

All stressor points, like in-country transportation, all city tours, and accommodations are handled completely on our end, so you are free to enjoy yourself knowing everything is taken care of

Our accommodations are always boutique, unique, centrally located and locally owned wherever possible

Our micro group size gives us much more flexibility to stay in some pretty incredible and iconic places. From the Sahara Desert to Pera palace in Istanbul to the Svalbard Basecamps far above the Arctic Circle, we have curated a list of some of the most iconic, charming, unique, and wonderful stays on Planet Earth.

Story Time: We actually launched our international tour outfit in April of 2020
That didn't go quite as planned, ahem. But here we are!
After Covid and then Omicron, we finally launched our first tour in 2022 to Morocco

We are headquartered in beautiful Northern New England

We love where we live and got our start leading women's hiking and backpacking adventures in the White Mountains of NH and Maine

We have a deep respect for nature and we live by Leave No Trace principles wherever we go
These guidelines are laid out for wilderness experiences, but we find many apply to international tourism as well
